Presenting your CV

SII will recruit 800 new team members this year – which means we’ll be evaluating some tens of thousands of applications. Here are a few useful tips that will help your CV stand out:

Form:

Your CV should be printed on plain white A4 paper ;
Limit the number of fonts used ;
Take special care to avoid grammatical and spelling mistakes ;
Write clearly and ensure your text is well-spaced and easy to read ;
For entry-level positions, a one-page CV will suffice.

Content:

Your CV should be an accurate reflection of your qualifications and experience ;
Sell yourself’ – without being boastful ;
Try to incite curiosity ;
Clearly outline your full range of technical and professional skills (languages, tools, methods, equipment) – this helps non-specialist recruitment staff recognize the keywords they’re looking for ;
Leave it to our HR professionals to identify your weak points.

Compulsory information:

Your basic details (full name, age, civil status) ;
Your contact details (postal address, email & phone number/s) ;
Your education, including the years in which you obtained your qualifications. Your formal qualifications are important to us, and should figure prominently ;
Any internships or residential courses that add value to your qualifications, particularly for entry-level applicants ;
Your professional experience, including the names of previous employer/s, your role/s and the tools/equipment used in your work ;
Technical experience (IT systems, electronic platforms, telecoms . . .) should be included in the information relating to previous employment and internships – your familiarity with a particular communication protocol will be accorded more weight if garnered in the course of a job or internship rather than simply through your studies ;
Include one line on your personal interests/activities.
